About artist:
Born in 1952. He studied graphic art at the Department of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. After graduation he started designing and exhibiting posters, such as for the Polish Poster Art Biennial in Katowice (1977 and 1979), the International Biennial in Lathi and in Warsaw. In 1980 he gave up other media and focused on painting. Yerka's work is classified as surreal or fantasy art. His pictures inspired the fantasy writer Harlon Ellison to write 30 short stories, which together with Yerka's paintings were published under the title Mind Fields. In 1995 he won the prestigious World Fantasy Award. His works are present in a number of collections across the world.
