About artist:
Born 1949 in Mediniszki, a village in northern Lithuania. From 1968 to 1973 he studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Vilnius, where he had his first monographic show staged in 1970. He first come to Poland in 1972, and his earliest successes were at the International Biennial of Modern Ex Libris Art in Malbork. Eidrigevicius has been based in Warsaw since 1980, travels all around the world in connection with art, and since 1981 has been a member of the Polish Visual Artists' Association. His media are painting, graphic art, book illustration, poster art, drawing and performance art. His works have been on view across the continents, from Japan to Spain, America, Africa and Australia.
The masque that appears so frequently in Stasys' works is intended not so much to strip the person it conceals of individuality, as to force the viewer to concentrate on the problems of human existance.
Stasys' art has been shown at the Ginza Graphic Gallery in Tokyo (1988, 1998), the Satheby's Gallery in Stockholm (1995), the Willy Brandt House in Berlin (2000) and many other places.
